In the last year or so, some individuals with significant roles in the club have, for understandable reasons, stood down from their positions. In the coming year, we will also see Phil West stand down in his role as webmaster (and numerous other roles) and Kevin Nicholls as show organiser. So, we are looking for a number of club members who would be prepared to join the committee to build on the great work of all those who have played an important part in the club. The attached article has a short description of the roles that need to be filled. As a volunteer-run club, EKAM is dependent on the involvement of its members.
One of those standing down stated the following: -
“Thank you for your kind words, but thanking me is not needed. I set out to put back what I got out of the club, I guess this goes for everyone on the committee, both past and present.”
I think that says all that is needed. Please read the article and consider if you can help. If you would like to volunteer or discuss these roles further please email Tariq Hussain, (
Who we are Looking For
Social Secretary: this important position’s main role is to ensure a varied and interesting annual programme for club nights. It involves booking and organising a range of speakers and events. Other committee and club members will assist in hosting and supporting the programme.
Webmaster: we are looking for someone who can help to ensure our website is an attractive place for visitors and members. That the website also links with our other online activities. This may be as webmaster or overseeing an outsourced website arrangement. No decisions about how to replace Phil’s work have been made. We will discuss this with anyone keen to help. Phil West will hold this position until arrangements can be sorted. He will also ensure a handover takes place in an orderly and timely way.
Shows Organiser: we have had a stand at a small number of motorcycle/car shows in Kent. We need someone to recruit a small team for each show. A number of club members have regularly helped at each show. Attendance at shows is a good way of advertising our work and has led to a number of applications for training.
Committee Member: There is always a place for anyone who wants to join the committee without a specific role. This helps to give individuals time to consider if this is something they could contribute to. Like a free trial with no ongoing commitment.
