I’ve had a couple of riders express an interest in my intended route to Florac in July so I thought I’d pass it on to others that may be interested.
I intend catching the 08.30 P&O boat from Dover on Sunday 20th July(The earlier boat is at 03.30 and costs £3.50 less, so sod that). Return on 27th for the 19.00 boat.
I’ll avoid tolls and motorways sticking to A roads and taking in the villages etc. The journey time is about 17 hrs (without breaks) so an overnight stop about half way will be necessary, camping or hotel depending on weather. Seat of the pants ride thus avoiding a booking or deadlines.
We’ll arrive at Florac early evening 21st if all goes well.
Current price for the P&O crossing £119.30* return per bike and rider(s). (FYI. Eurotunnel is currently £132.00 return. Slightly different timings).
GROUP DISCOUNT
If 10 or more people want to accompany me, the ferry price per bike and rider(s) can be reduced to £82.00* currently. (FYI. Eurotunnel don’t offer group discounts).
Once on French soil we would all be free to do our own thing to get to Florac.
Personally, I will be using Google maps navigation to get to Florac and back home, but will have the “My Route” app on the phone in the hope that Nigel will be able to copy across his selected ride suggestions when we’re at the hotel.
If there’s the interest, we could arrange a group or groups to travel down together from Calais regardless of whether or not the target of 10 has been achieved. (Best have at least one mate to help carry your wheel to the garage).
The trip back could be along the same lines if you chose to do so.
In order to make the arrangement with P&O, and fix the group price quoted, I will need your notification of interest by Wed. 15th Jan 23.00hrs. If you’re interested,
No payment will be required until April 2025 at the earliest, but at that time I will require payment of the Group amount (currently £82.00). I’m told by P&O that it won’t change much, if at all.
Should the group reduce to less than 10 for any reason, your money would be returned to you and you would have to start afresh and make your own individual booking.
