It is the end of busy year. We will have a full report on 2024 following our AGM in March but, for now, at the start of another year which promises to be equally busy I have been asked to share my thoughts on what we can look forward to in 2025.
I’m particularly looking forward to another year of continuing test pass results including a goodly quota of perfect scores and distinctions. I am pleased that we will also be running further Training Weekends, including an Associates Training Weekend. All this shows our continuing commitment to, and success in, the delivery of quality training.
I am looking forward to some great speakers at club nights. We have booked speakers from Kent Police, the Trail Riders Fellowship, a possible return from the Michelin Men as well as others. And I am looking forward to an evening where club members will have an opportunity to share their stories about special rides they have enjoyed.
On top of our regular programme of social rides I am pleased that we are back to two ride-outs a year to France, a possible return to an Autumn weekend ride-out and, not forgetting, our annual incursion into Wales.
I am looking forward to seeing even more club members taking part in our ride-outs and in social club activities. It would be great to see a few more members whose names appear on our membership list but who we too rarely see.
I am hoping that we might be able to do some joint events with KAMG our neighbour club.
On a ‘we could do better note’ I am hoping we can see a greater involvement of members in the running of the club. There are lots of opportunities including by:
- Members joining the committee and sharing their expertise with us
- Joining the Observer Corps and supporting our training activities
- Helping to plan and lead social rides
- Offering suggestions for, or even arranging, club night speakers
- Supporting our Events Team at Shows
And a small but important point;
- By booking attendance at events early, so we don’t have to send out numerous reminders.
So that’s my hopes and expectations for 2025. I’m looking forward to it and I hope you are too.
