I joined EKAM in summer of 2017. As an associate I was allowed to go on that years fish and chip run to Rye. An observer kept an eye on me. When we got to Rye the recipient of this award welcomed me but them commented that my riding was ****. Some would say that this person is straightforward, others may say blunt. But beneath that exterior is a hard working committed individual, who has always played a large part in the life of the club.

This person joined  EKAM in 2005, doing their ITAM in June that year. In December2013 they successfully passed their test as an observer. Since that time they have kept up a steady schedule of associate training.

This individual joined the committee in April 2012. Then took up the role of social secretary in August 2012. As you have now guessed I am talking about Sarah Farbrace who has carried this role out for just over 12 years. In that role I have been amazed at her hard work. Not only planning a wide range of club night activities, but also involved in the preparation for French and UK midsummer madness runs. Sarah is the ever practical club member throwing herself into raffles, food, ticket sales, generally encouraging (or is it nagging) club members to get involved and others to attend events.

It is worth noting that whilst Sarah was carrying out her many tasks  for the club, she was  also working as a senior manager in the NHS and more recently at a large university. So she has made her club commitments on top of a busy work life. Sarah is an example of someone who not only loves riding, and improving riding standards, but also someone you can rely on.

Sarah’s activity on behalf of  the club is obvious to all. She richly deserves the chairman's award. Even  if she was continuing in this role.

We all owe her debt of gratitude.
