Classroom Theory Session and Training
The Introduction to Advanced Motorcycling (ITAM) consists of a Saturday morning classroom session on the theory of advanced riding followed by an on road observed ride. The theory session provides you with a relatively in-depth input on which our on road training is based. After any on-road training you will be given a thorough de-briefing and the opportunity to comment on and discuss your ride. Your coaching will result in a much greater enjoyment of your motorcycling. Safety is paramount. Your on-road training will be you and your qualified observer. There is the opportunity to use bike to bike communications and have your ride videoed.
The different road scenarios you will encounter will be explained and clarified, building into a pattern for safer riding. When you have learnt the art of advanced riding you will have more time to react to hazards that motorcyclists encounter every day on our road network, making you a thinking, safer rider.
Learning issues/difficulties
Let us know if you have specific learning difficulties that may affect your learning or riding. We will treat in strict confidence and tailor the training to suit you.
The Test
If you sampled our free assessment ride or Taster Day session, enjoyed it, could see and feel a difference in the way you ride, why not think about the IAM RoadSmart Advanced Rider Test.
EKAM will teach you all you need to be a better rider to a test standard. EKAM will refund £75 to any new Associate under 30 years of age on enrolment, on receipt of IAM RoadSmart’s confirmation of the Associate’s enrolment on the Advanced Rider Course. The balance of the course fee will be paid on successful completion of the advanced rider test.
A Skill for Life
The Advanced Rider Course is about taking that next step. Whether it’s about challenging your own standards or reassuring a loved one who struggles to share your enthusiasm, our programme can make you a better rider.
The programme teaches the five phases of advanced riding; information, position, speed, gear and acceleration, so regardless of whether you’re navigating country lanes, busy roads, or tackling the challenging British weather, you will have the skills and knowledge to remain confident and in control. Safety is paramount within the Advanced Rider programme, but it also encourages you to feel confident on the road, to make good progress, and to get greater enjoyment from the experience.
